Greetings once again from Kelowna, BC. So much has happened with our family and church in these last couple of months. Time has just flown by!
In January we were in the States for a couple of weeks. Sam, our oldest son, was married on January 11 in McDonough, GA. We flew down a few days before and got to spend a couple of days with all of our children under the same roof. The wedding was both beautiful and exciting! Sam and Juliana did everything scripturally during their dating relationship, and it was a great joy to watch as they pledged themselves to each other. We also took a few days to visit with family because it had been some time since we were out that way for a visit. We got to spend a few days near each of our parents, and some brief visits with siblings too. I also got to visit with my grandparents for a few hours. They still live in the same house in which my granddaddy was born. They are both in their nineties and have been married for over 70 years. When something was said about that being a long time to be married to one person my grandmother replied, “Well, we didn’t do it all at one time.” Meaning they had just lived their lives one day at a time and now it has added up to over 70 years. What a contrast and blessing... my son, a newlywed, and my grand parents, married over 70 years.
Please continue to pray for the work here in Kelowna. We have faithfully knocked door since our arrival here in November of 2010 with very little fruit. The church is losing another family in a couple of months because of the need to relocate for work; and there is also a family that is seeking work elsewhere but does not at this time know if the door will open.
I had mentioned in our last letter that the building in which PBC has met for most of its existence is up for sale. The location and lot are more valuable than the building because of its proximity to downtown. Thus the price is well beyond what we could afford. The listing of this building has prompted us to begin looking for a new location, and while doing so we found a church building that has just been renovated in the last few years. It has a small parsonage and just over an acre of land. It is listed at $675,000, which, believe it or not, is an excellent deal. We are trying to raise the money to buy this property. If you have not already, you will be receiving a letter from Bro. Capaci and myself with regard to this opportunity. We are praying for 600 churches and people that would contribute $1000.00 each to help us buy this property. If you would please prayerfully consider helping us in this endeavour, as well as passing this opportunity along to your church family it would be greatly appreciated. There is a video and some brochures links on our church website: www.peoplesbaptist.ca/building-project/
The immediately family is all doing well. Susan and I are staying busy with ministry work. Samuel and his bride are settling into ministry life. Andrew has finished college and will march in May. Beth is working hard to finish up her second year. She got her permanent residence at the same time Susan and I did, so she will be able to come home for the summer and get a job here. I would ask you to pray for my mom. She has had a number of health issues since the first of the year, the latest of which are shoulder surgery and high blood pressure.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness where God has placed you, and your prayer and financial support that allows us to be where He has placed us!
